"Wake Up Dead Man" is the twelfth and final track from U2's 1997 album, Pop. Similar to "If You Wear That Velvet Dress", the song was originally written for the Zooropa album, but was set aside and then reworked on the next album. One of the band's bleakest songs, it is written as a plea from Bono for Jesus Christ to return and fix the world. It is one of few U2 songs to use a profanity ("I am alone in this world/and a fucked-up world it is, too"). It was played occasionally in the PopMart and Elevation tours, and is featured on PopMart: Live from Mexico City, Elevation 2001: Live from Boston, and U2 Go Home: Live from Slane Castle concert films (although all were performed in abbreviated form).

The song has been covered by Maria João on her "Undercovers" album in 2002.
