Wakasa, Fukui

Wakasa (若狭町 Wakasa-chō?) is a town located in Mikatakaminaka District, Fukui, Japan.
Wakasa was formed on March 31, 2005 by the merger of the a former town in Mikata District: (the town of) Mikata , and a former town in Onyū District: Kaminaka.
As of October 1, 2005, the total estimated population of the merged towns is 16,782 with a density of 93.94 persons per km². The total area is 178.65 km².
