Waffle King is the name of a song by famous comedian and musician "Weird Al" Yankovic. The song appears on his eight album, "Alapalooza." It is a style parody of "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel, as it noticeably uses the famous Synthesized shakuhachi sound.

[edit] Release

Waffle King was recorded in 1990, during the early "Off the Deep End" sessions. Due to a lack of a strong lead-off parody, the album was post-poned until 1992, when Yankovic parodied Nirvana's smash-hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Waffle King was originally scheduled to be released on "Off the Deep End," but Yankovic replaced it with a newer song, entitled "I Was Only Kidding" (The reason being that the song contained a reference to the recent film "Wayne's World", and Yankovic knew the joke had a limited shelf life). Waffle King was instead released as a B-Side to "Smells Like Nirvana".

In 1993, Yankovic recorded his eight studio album, "Alapalooza" and he decided that Waffle King should be released as a track on it, instead of a single-only B-Side.
