Wadi al-Joz

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wadi al-Joz (Arabic: وادي الجوز‎), also Wadi Joz, (Valley of the Nuts), is an Israeli-Arab neighborhood in Jerusalem, located at the head of the Kidron Valley, north of the Old City. Though it is located in Jerusalem, the neighborhood is inhabited by a proportionately large number of Hebronites, particularly belonging to the Sinnokrot (Sinokrot), Niroukh, and Abdeen families. Other residents include Circassian, Lebanese, and Jerusalemite Palestinians. The families remain very influential in Wadi al-Joz, assimilating fully with their Jerusalemite compatriots, while fully recognizing their Hebronite roots.[citation needed]
