eva cassidy was dead by 1996, so how could she have made it popular in 1997???

Most of Eva Cassidy's recordings were issued posthumously. I assumed that most people knew this. Ogg (talk) 20:54, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Avoiding Dogs

Nice story, but unlikely. Referrence needed, Pustelnik (talk) 02:29, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

The song is attributed to Harriett Tubman. I can find no credible resources that can confirm this. In addition she supposedly did this in 1862. At that time se was serving in South Carolina and not associated with the Underground Railroad and had to way to introduce any song to slaves.

My understanding is this song was sung for many, many years prior to the war. No author has ever been given credit.Jeff G (talk) 17:13, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
