W3Schools is a web developer's portal, with tutorials and references relating to web development subjects, including HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript. W3Schools is free of charge, and is funded through text and display advertising.[1]. The tutorials and references on the website and the related code are proprietary.[2].
It is created and owned by Refsnes Data, a Norwegian family-owned software development and consulting company.[3]

[edit] Tutorials and references
The site largely consists of beginner's tutorials and references of the main web development subjects and languages.
[edit] Standards compliance
W3Schools advocate making web pages that validate against the W3C's standards. However, whilst the site itself is technically compliant, it does not employ a tableless layout or aspects common to modern 'standards-compliant' web sites.
