W.T.Stonehill is a professional Horologist, and Japanologist and Sinologist by avocation living and working in Tokyo, Japan.

He holds degrees from universities in the USA and Japan in Chinese, Japanese and Engineering. He is also a AWCI (American Watch and Clockmakers Institute) CWM (Certified Watchmaker) and CMC (Certified Master Clockmaker). He has worked in the watch manufacturing, repair and distributing industry for over 30 years.

The the firm he owns in Japan has acted as the Japanese representative for a number of internationally known watch brands. He is a member of several academic and collectors groups that deal with contemporary Japanese and Chinese politics and sociology, as well as horology. He is a occasional contributor to several magazines, including the NAWCC Bulletin and the New Scientist.
