W. Smith (rugby league)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

W. Smith was an Australian rugby league footballer for the Eastern Suburbs club. Smith, who played in the wing position, has the honour of being the club's first try scorer. The try, which came in Easts' opening match, was the only one he scored in his time at the club. He was a member of the Eastern Suburbs side that was defeated by South Sydney in the first ever New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership Grand Final.

Smith moved to the Balmain club the following year before returning to the Eastern Suburbs club for the 1912 season.
