W29DJ (Channel 29) is a low-power television station licensed to Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The station is currently owned by Sheboygan Community Broadcasting, LLC, based in Sarasota, Florida. Previously, the station had been an onwed and operated translator station via satellite of the Trinity Broadcasting Network since sign-on in 1990 [1], and has a pending construction permit for a digital transmitter on the station's former analog channel of 16.
Since August 2007, the transmitter had been silent and not broadcasting, and it is unknown at this time whether the station has transitioned to digital transmission or will return as a TBN translator. FCC records indicate that the station returned to the air on channel 29 in March 6, 2008, but from a different transmitter located south of Random Lake east of Highway 57, which does not actually cover Sheboygan, and instead broadcasts to communities in southeast Sheboygan County and northeast Ozaukee County.
The station covers the eastern part of Sheboygan County currently, with the digital signal expected to fully cover the county, southern Manitowoc County and northern Ozaukee County. W29DJ currently has no cable coverage, although TBN and its other digital subchannels launched on local cable provider Charter Communications in late August 2007, with reception via satellite [2]. Time Warner Cable systems in the county also carry the network via TBN's full-power station in Mayville, WWRS.
The station's Sheboygan tower is located on Sheboygan's south side, in an industrial park, just west of a WisDOT emissions testing station.
