This is engraving by G. Dodgson from the 1836 book 'The Scenery of the Whitby and Pickering Railway' by Henry Belcher. Its original title was 'Entrance to the Vale of Goathland', it appeared as a plate between pages 34 and 35. This imaged was produced from an original copy of the book held in the NYMR Archives and has been uploaded with the permission of the Hon. Archivist to the NYMHRT Ltd. The image uploaded is a reduced size version of a scanned image taken from an image produced by a document camera for display as part of the 1986 celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the opening of the W&P Railway.
