As far as I know the "Vympel" group existed before it recieved it's name. It was decided to create a permament group after 1979 operation of capturing the presedentual palace in Afghanistan. [edit] Spetztekhnika Vympel NPO

Is this the same Vympel as the missile design bureau (Spetztekhnika Vympel NPO)? The articles about various of their missiles link here, but somehow I doubt the two Vympels are related. Especially since there is no reference to missiles in this article. - Dammit 17:05, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

I personally have the same suspicion as Dammit above... I think it'd be better to turn Vympel into a disambiguation page with links to Vympel / Vega Group and to Vympel NPO respectively... - Blueshade 08:15, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
