Vue Weekly

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vue Weekly is an alternative weekly newspaper published in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Vue was founded in 1995 by former employees and owners of SEE Magazine, upset over losing control of the paper to creditors. Vue was partly owned by The Georgia Straight for a brief time, but is now privately owned. Vue bills itself as "Edmonton's 100% Independent News and Entertainment Weekly".

Vue filed a suit against the Canadian government for giving tax breaks for Canadian-owned newspapers to its rival See because See's parent company was ultimately owned by US-based Hollinger.

Vue is a member of the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies.
