[edit] Pomona College
Good work on the Pomona College article. I see you toiling away on the text and leaving notes on the talk page. I haven't had any particular comments, but I just wanted you to know your work is noted and appreciated. -Will Beback · † · 08:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
{{helpme}}
Hi, I would have looked up an answer to this in the help section, but wasn't really sure where to start. My question is more of a suggestion, I guess. I was looking at the Ved Mehta article, and thought it was odd that there was no information on it at the time I looked (except for his website). Turns out it was all deleted by vedpmehta. I was just thinking/wondering, doesn't something have to be done about this? Thanks! -Vter4life 08:04, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Also, this doesn't necessarily imply it was Ved Mehta himself editing the article; it looks like another user, vedmehta, has edited the article before too. Still, it seems problematic that someone would just delete an article like that.Vter4life 08:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- It seems you figured it out already. :-) Yes, the proper thing to do is to revert to the last good version. You can also then leave a warning on the user's talk page. In this case, the appropriate warning would be {{subst:blank-n|Ved Mehta}}. After you add that to the user's talk page and click save, it will expand into the appropriate warning about blanking articles. SWAdair | Talk 08:11, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm... I'll help you keep an eye on the article and this user. The {{warn}} template is a nice way to warn/welcome someone. If you see someone who continually vandalizes, the standard progession of warnings is {{subst:test}}, {{subst:test2}}, {{subst:test3}} and {{subst:test4}}. With each of those you have the option of using the -n|articlename if you want -- for instance {{subst:test2-n|Ved Mehta}}. If they continue to vandalize past test4, you can list them at WP:AIV for administrator intervention. Be sure to go through the entire set of warnings, waiting after each one to see if they vandalize again. Most people will stop vandalizing after one or two warnings. Relatively few will continue past the fourth warning. If you see someone who is rapidly vandalizing many articles in succession, then you can skip the standard progression and use {{subst:blatantvandal}} as a first-and-final warning.
