Vrbas River

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vrbas (Serbian Cyrillic: Врбас) is a major river in western Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is a right tributary of the river Sava. The town of Banja Luka, the de facto capital of the political entity Republika Srpska (Serb Republic), is located on the river banks.

In deep history, it was the ancient border between Serbs and Croats. It lent its name to one of the provinces (banovinas) of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Vrbas Banovina.

Rafting on the Vrbas is an underappreciated local tourist attraction.
