Vrajlal Sapovadia, faculty at IIM, [1] is accomplished teacher and research scholar in the field of management. He is distinguished faculty in area of Management Accounting, Finance and Corporate Law & Ethics. His association with education, research and development institutes has resulted into extensive academic work in various socio-economic issues. His academic interest are extensive, wide and innovative. He has generally worked for weaker section of the society: and his work on cooperatives, micro finance, HIV/AIDS and poverty reduction strategies. He possesses a Ph.D. in Management Accounting, Masters in Law (Commercial & Property Law),a Masters in Business Administation and a diploma in Information System Audit. He is also a fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He started his academic career as a part time lecturer in a Law College in Ahmedabad. Then he moved on to joining MBA Centre (National Institute of Cooperative Management, Gandhinagar) of Gujarat University [[4]] at Gandhinagar in 1999. In year 2005 he moved to one of the renowned B-Schools in India, namely B.K. School of Business Management , Ahmedabad. [[5]]. Presently he is a faculty member in the area of Finance & Accounting at Indian Institute of Management, Indore.

As a researcher he worked extensively and attended several international conferences to present his research papers. He visited USA, Canada, Japan, Thailand, Srilanka, Switzerland, France, Germany and several other country for academic purpose. He worked as consultant to World Bank Institute in its Public Finance course. He is also guide to Micro Finance Community of Development Gateway, USA. He is also Observer Member of ALNAP, UK. He is member of ICAI. He also is invitee as visiting faculty in several state institutes.

His research publication history is remarkable. His articles appeared place in Harvard International Review, [[8]] [[9]] as study material in World Bank Institute Program, SSRN etc. Prof. Sapovadia is among the top 5% author on SSRN [[10]] He is popular amongst the students because of his live, dynamic and vibrant teaching style. His notable work is on 'economies of cooperation'. This determine optimum level of cooperative organization membership. Collective efforts of members of cooperative create benefit as a whole, but beyond some limit, to unite member becomes burdensome. Many of his publications are available on SSRN. [[11]]

Prof Sapovadia was winner for 3rd (Thailand - 2004) and 4th (Srilanka -2006) Research Conference award by International Cooperative Alliance . He was awarded IIFET [[12]] in 2004, held in Tokyo University, Japan. His paper on Urban Management was presented in 4th Urban Research Symposium at World Bank, Washington DC in May 2007 [[13]] Prof. Sapovadia earned fellowship at Canada Congress 2007 and 1st CIRIEC - both held in Canada on social economy.

He is fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He is fellow member at International Professors & Professionals (IPP). He is observer member of ALNAP . He is guide at Development Gateway 's Micro Finance community. He will be joining as Associate Professor in area of Finance & Accounting, with famous management institute in India, namely - Indian Institute of Management, Indore.

His area of social science research broadly covers: Corporate Governance, Accounting, Finance (Public & Micro Finance), Public Health, Cooperatives, Women Empowerment, Decentralization, Information System, Poverty, Corporate Law & Taxation, Land Policy, Urbanization and Education. As a social reformer he had contributed lot in creating awareness fighting social evils, superstition, corruption and strengthening moral duty toward society. He wrote articles and published it, but he actually practiced fighting corruption [18]and filed cases against public officials. He worked as system reformers, by putting his efforts correcting flaw in the systems. His ideology encompass taking care of environmental issues, administrative hurdles, social discipline and worked to put reforms in the various sectors. His focus in social issue like dowry, illiteracy, poverty and public health are worth-noting. He used Right to Information Act as a tool to correct administrative system at various government level.
[edit] A Short Life Story
Dr. Sapovadia was born (1956) in a small village Nanadiya located between Junagadh (birth place of Narsinh Mehta, a famous ancient poet) & Porbandar (birth place of Mahatma Gandhi). His father a farm labour and mother a house wife & iliterate woman nourished him with bundle of noble characteristics. He was sent to government school at age of 5, his study till 9th standard undergone in the village Nanadiya. He was sent to Rajkot in 1970 for further study at Swaminarayan Gurukul, Rajkot. After matriculation, he was sent to Gujarat College, Ahmedabad in 1972. He stood first in the college and after Pre Science, he joined famous LMCP, a pharmacy college in Ahmedabad. In his second round of study, which began in 1990, he completed his LL.B., LL.M. (Commercial Law), MBA (Finance), C.A., LL. M. (Property Law), Ph.D. and Diploma in Information System Audit from ICAI.
