[edit] Plot

Tuvok and B'Elanna Torres are captured and imprisoned after an away mission to obtain a chemical vital to Voyager's systems from a black market. Captain Janeway is injured and is rescued by a man named Caylem who believes that she is his daughter. Eventually, he helps her to gain entrance into the caves where Tuvok and B'Elanna are being held as prisoners and releases them. They are soon after seized by the Mocra prison guards. The Mocra commanding officer, Augris, tells Caylem that his real daughter was shot trying to help release his wife a long time ago and his wife died in the prison. Before Augris can question Captain Janeway with brutal interrogation methods as he did with Tuvok, Caylem attacks the commander still believing that Janeway is his daughter. He stabs Augris during the fight, but is shot by two prison guards before they can be stopped.

Janeway is truly sorry when Caylem is fatally injured, and she tells him the commander was lying about his daughter being shot and she also mentions that his wife forgave him for his past actions, and she wanted him to accept that. "My sweet girl" are Caylem's last words before he dies in her arms and Janeway is saddened at his death. On Voyager, Janeway keeps the locket that reminded him of his former daughter to remind her of his kindness.
