[edit] Reynolds Secondary

  • Delete. This appears to be a vanity school page without any valuable content. -- JamesTeterenko 03:49, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete, non-notable. How come I've never heard of any of those "famous people"? RickK 04:20, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)
    • They're people. Therefore notable. Or at least, they have the potential to become notable. Or at least, they are names, which have the potential to be given to people, who could become notable. Dpbsmith (talk) 12:32, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
      • The article calls them famous. They aren't. RickK 22:58, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete unless expanded into a real article and vanity removed prior to expiration of VfD comment period. Created by a User:SFontaine who has an account and has made about thirty edits since April. Will leave a note on his Talk page. Dpbsmith (talk) 12:32, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: Just a vanity page for the authors to list their names. It would be interesting if high school students were listening to Joy Division's "Atmosphere," since it's the non plus ultra of gloom, but, given the apparent mentality, I suspect they mean some other song. I digress: a name of a school and names of the authors: vanity. Geogre 13:34, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
    • Personally I loved dark broody stuff of all kinds when I was in high school. Doesn't everyone? Made me feel grown up. In one of Owen Johnson's Lawrenceville stories, set circa 1910 or so in a New Jersey boys' prep school, there's a reference to them sitting around and drinking a toast something like this: "So stand to your glasses steady/The world is a tissue of lies/And here's to the men who are already dead/And here's to the next man who dies," and being thrilled with their own display of world-weariness. Comment. I placed the following note on the contributor's talk page and also used the "email contributor" feature:

I want to make you aware that Reynolds Secondary is under discussion in Votes for Deletion. Articles about high schools are very contentious; there is no consensus within Wikipedia as to whether we should keep articles that are about non-notable high schools. If you want the article to be kept, my personal advice would be to see whether you can remove items from it that appear to be vanity (e.g. what appears to be your own name given in the list of "famous people"). Make sure the list of famous alumni is factual, identify any that may not be familiar names and say who they are, and add material that shows why the school is unique, different from other schools, and notable. Generally, begin to expand it into a real article. That will not guarantee that it is kept, but it will definitely influence the voting. The article will be discussed on VfD for five days before any decision is made. Dpbsmith (talk) 12:40, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I just received this reply via email:

Hey mate. Sorry bout that I used it to show my friend Mike (Michael Jordan (Anker)) how to use Wikipedia and I guess I forgot about it.
How do I delete it?
I replied, in part
No problem. Thanks for letting me know. I'll delete the page.
and explained that he could have blanked the page.

Based on this, I am declaring this article to be a speedy deletion as a test page (Wikipedia:Candidates for speedy deletion criterion #2), and deleting it now. But this discussion should be preserved and I have placed a link to it on the archive page. Dpbsmith (talk) 00:20, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)

P. S. If anyone has any serious problems with deleting the page under the circumstances, don't drag it through VfU, just let me know and I'll restore the page. Oh, and in case anyone want to know, the entire page content was:
