• This one is more or less interesting. The (wrong) definition in the article is from Revenge of the Nerds:

Police officer: “See that man over there, we arrested him for mopery” Booger: “What’s mopery?” Police officer: “Mopery is exposing yourself to a blind person”

In reality, it's probably a very obscure and old legal for something like loitering. See here. Anyway, it's a dicdef with the wrong definition. delete. Wyllium 14:20, 2004 Nov 27 (UTC)

• It might be an obscure legal term, but the link which I provided for a question in the Ref. desk seems to be correct. I would like to see a mention of the correct term in wiktionary, maybe along with a mention of the wrong one if explicitly labelled as such. For this one: Delete. • Keep. I still don't know what exactly it means. However, in Talk:Mopery, I included 3 (ONLY THREE) U.S. case and 4 (ONLY FOUR) secondary sources that used this term. Even though I cannot look it up in my copy of Black's Law Dictionary, this term must be meaningful to some people. -- Toytoy 12:56, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)

• Keep. "Mopery" is an almost-legendary bogus or trumped-up charge, as in "Mopery with intent to creep." In Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon (maybe sort of obscure now, but read by all sorts of hip young nerds of my generation 30 years ago), the main character and antihero, Tyrone Slothrop, is charged with "Mopery with a Subversive Insturment" in Post-Modern L.A. (or at least somebody is) right at the end of the book, in the last chapter.) Whatever it orignially was is not as important as what it has come to mean, a bogus charge used to hold someone against whom no legitimate charges are currently sustainable.
