Okey, a little history: I originally spotted this earlier tonight on Special:Newpages, it seemed like some homosexual bashing at the time, which in fact was vandalism by an anon which was later blocked. I deleted the article which due to an error of mine in viewing the edit history i thought a candidate for speedy deletion, that is, the initial version by Ivan yulaev ( due to my mistake ) seemed like the vandalism. I wrongly warned him that if he would continue he would be blocked and deleted the article again which seemed to be entering a 'shitstorm' situation at the time. It got created and deleted a cauple of times to to said anon and eventually i thought it would be good to bring it back here to clear the whole issue up, which has not been handled in the best way by me and RickK due to miscommunication and honest mistakes. --Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 22:16, 2004 Jul 6 (UTC)
- Delete. Wikipedia is not a forum for advertising male member comparision sites, unless they are really, really notorious. Ianb 21:06, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Comment. Unless someone objects within 10 minuites i'm just going to delete this, i did that initially, it was written again by User:Ivan yulaev within 5 minuites. That user has also deleted the VFD template from the page, it's just some homosexual bashing that has no place on VFD. It's a speedy delete. --Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 21:11, 2004 Jul 6 (UTC)
- No objection here. The subject is nauseating, puerile and insulting. So is the article. Delete. - Lucky 6.9 21:19, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I believe that instead, a decent, informative, concise version should be created and possibly protected. GenMay has been a somewhat influential entity on the internet and has spawned many colloqualisms and internet trends. Apologies for the deletion of the VfD blurb on the article, this was an accident and not my intention. Ivan yulaev 22:05, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Keep reverted version. My delete vote was based on the vandalized article. - Lucky 6.9 22:47, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Abstain:Isn't it misnamed? Shouldn't it be GenMay, or, better yet, General Mayhem? I abstain because I'm not entirely sure that the BBS/Forum/Portal/Site is anything but a hack magnet. Geogre 23:54, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)- Delete: Further discussion makes me uncertain enough of importance to vote. Geogre 02:58, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Delete -- a totally absurd article to find in an encyl., not to mention the fact that it's written by a near-illiterate.Hayford Peirce 00:35, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, not notable, and it seems from the history that this article has no future other than to serve as a forum for immature idiots to call each other "gay". —Stormie 01:02, Jul 7, 2004 (UTC)
- Much as I don't want to flip-flop on an issue, I'd like to reinstate my delete vote per reasons stated above. - Lucky 6.9 01:04, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I think it would be a useful entry if it was written in a sensible manner. It would only be created again anyway, best to let it exist and settle down. unsigned vote by User:81.96.74.103
- Delete - This article is turning into a bad chat room - Tεxτurε 03:04, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Mindless garbage, vandal magnet. Wile E. Heresiarch 03:26, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Dont Delte Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. What is wrong with you people. Genmay is a very influential internet site and deserves to be in this encylopedia. unsigned vote by User:65.66.226.157
- Genmay is a fairly large forum and could be worth an article, but this isn't it (for the record I'm not a member). Delete unless overhauled. And I agree with Geogre, "Genmay" is a nickname, it should be at General Mayhem (unfortunately Wikipedia doesn't let you have square brackets in the article title or it would be General [M]ayhem). - Rewrite under General Mayhem. Forum is notable and this entry is no more an advertisement than Something Awful --Fittysix 19:02, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Pardon me if I'm wrong, but the fact that you have no previous edit history makes your vote suspect since it's rare that anybody who first stumbles on this site would come to this page first. Again, please pardon me if I'm wrong. - Lucky 6.9 23:16, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, it's moronic. Alternatively, could it be turned into a sensible article about the site; said article to kept unless it is vandalized in which case it is immediately deleted. In other words give the interested editors a chance to act responsibly. ping 08:20, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Protect, ( in bold so it's a bit noticeble ), i would like to protect this page for the duration of the vote, editing by a large group of anons has turned this into shameless self-advertising. I think we should be especially strict on that sort of thing here on wikipedia in order not to turn this into some place where every forum on the internet writes an article in order to boost it's pagerank. --Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 17:02, 2004 Jul 8 (UTC)
- The number of delete votes makes it unlikely that freezing the current article would make any difference. - Tεxτurε 17:31, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Thats not the point, a group is using this as shameless self-promoting, which should not be tolerated. --Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 21:07, 2004 Jul 8 (UTC)
