Vorondil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth, Vorondil the Hunter was the Steward of Gondor between the years 1998-2029 Third Age.
He was born in T.A 1919, the son of Pelendur. He was a descendant of Húrin of Emyn Arnen, an earlier Steward of Gondor and the father of Mardil Voronwë, the first Ruling Steward of Gondor.
Vorondil was a great hunter, and hunted wild kine in the lands east of the Sea of Rhûn. The great Horn of Gondor that Boromir of the Fellowship of the Ring had was descended from Vorondil, an heirloom of the House of Húrin.
He died in T.A 2029 and was succeeded by his son Mardil as Steward.
