Volutomitridae are a family of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the order Sorbeoconcha.

Species in this family are found world-wide, mostly in cold deep water.

The shells are very similar to that of the Mitridae, but with different dentition, the radula being close to that of the scaphellid volutes, an operculum is present but not in the Mitridae, the columellar plaits number from two to five, and the head of the animal is short and broad with stubby tentacles.
