Volhynian Governorate

Volhynian Governorate (Russian: Волынская губерния, Ukrainian: Волинська губернія) was a governorate of the Russian Empire, created in 1792 after the Second Partition of Poland from the territory of the Kiev Voivodeship and Wołyń Voivodeship. After the First World War, part of the governorate became the new Wołyń Voivodeship in the Second Polish Republic.

Volhynian Governorate was one of the three governorates of the Southwestern Krai.

For most of the governorate's history, its capital town was Zhytomyr.

Majority of the population of the governorate was Ukrainian.
