Volante

Volante was the name given to the groups of Brazilian government armies and police soldiers whose job was to hunt and kill the cangaceiros. The members of the volantes were called "monkeys" by the cangaceiros.
In Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, a football defensive midfielder is called volante.
