[edit] Welcome to the Wikipedia!
Welcome to the Wikipedia, Volfy!
Here are some perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and The five pillars of Wikipedia.
- When you have time, take a look at Manual of Style, and assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always keep the notion of NPOV in mind, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your unique perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends:
Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Village pump, Verifiability, Wikiquette
Hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!
You can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~.
Best of luck, Volfy, and have fun! Ombudsman 06:49, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Tip on changing periods and quotes
A similar, and even more confusing principle in Wikipedia style is that articles which were originally drafted using either American or British spellings (labor/labour, aluminum/aluminium, gasoline/petrol, etc) shall keep that original orthographic convention, unless the article is clearly about one or the other nation, or except "petrol", which folks argued about for months. Most of the WP:MOS is simply good common sense, but there are some oddities, especially in the specialized MOS and naming conventions. Not to worry, it's all easy to fix and the consensus may change next month. Thanks for contributing. -Willmcw 07:33, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Sixth form
Thanks for the comment and welcome. It is easy to forget such things as sixth forms are not universally understood, especially since the number system starts at the age of eleven and the sixth form covers two years! I never guessed an article about my old school would be read outside the UK. Link now added to article to explain. JMcC 00:42, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Function and teeth
I looked at the function page, and yep.... teeth really do not have to do with anything on there. That was a huge oversight. Thanks very much and we can fix that up right away. -Dozenist talk 03:44, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
