I as watching a TV show called "Road Trip with Huell Howser" (2003), and a town resident (Jacques Tibeaux, husband of Muriel, a town guide) said that the cannon was cast in 1837 (and not 1847). He also said that the cannon is cracked at the "business end". Darryl 17:20, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
