[edit] Question

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a tautology to state that a volcanic rock is igneous? Igneous is assumed in the appelation "volcanic". I don't know who thought it was neccessary to classify volcanic rocks as this, but its particularly redundant and I think it is sufficient to just call it "volcanic rock". After all, it's not like you get sedimentary volcanic rocks.

(and yes, I am aware you can get epiclastic rocks which are sediments of volcanic composition and hence, to a particularly unimaginative point of view, are "sedimentary volcanic rocks", but to me, they are volcanogenic sediments).

edit: this stems from the link here on the lava page which is igneous volcanic rock

I'm not sure how other maintainers feel about this... but I reorganized the page in a way that should be more accessible and easier to read categorically. Snoop0x7b 05:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
