Howard Schwartz was a Canadian broadcaster between 1976 and 1995.
Born in Montreal, Quebec Canada, Howard began his career at Montreal radio station CJFM FM (FM 96) in 1976 as a D.J. and newsreader.
He moved to Calgary in 1977 to work at CJAY FM, at the time, the city's first progressive country rock station. Howard was the first DJ on air, introducing Calgary listeners to the station at midnight with the words " Good morning, Calgary. CJAY-FM is here," and Eric Clapton's Layla.
Howard then returned to Montreal in 1978 for another stint as a DJ at CJFM before making a career change to become a newscaster at CFCF AM. While there he filed reports for CBS radio and ABC's Good Morning America's newscasts.
In 1980 Howard moved over to television, working as a reporter anchorman at CKVR TV in Barrie Ontario, where he eventually took over the principal anhcor chair full time.
In 1982, he was hired at his hometown V station in Montreal, CFCF TV 12 as a reporter/anchorman. He took over the medical beat in 1990, producing two medical segments a week, while filling in as anchor Friday nights, on weekends and holidays.
He also became a fixture on the PBS program "This week in Canada".
Howard also appears in a number of motion pictures including Oh Heavenly Dog, Criminal Law, Sunset Court and Rainbow.
Howard Left broadcasting in 1995 to open a media consulting and video production firm specializing in the pharmaceutical and medical academic fields. He moved to the US in 2001 where he currently works as a media relations specialist in New York.
