vM Radio (also known simply as vM) is an internet radio station based in Hellertown, Pennsylvania, USA that plays rock, alternative, metal, and indie music, among a collage of other rock-related genres. They have a website located at www.vm-radio.com. They also have pioneered a brand new automated online request system, as well as sponsored many local events throughout the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area. A high level of local artists from this area played on the radio station. The station does not edit the music it plays, as it is not required of internet radio stations to do this.

vM Radio was founded in September 2006, and continues to be run by the original staff, and original founders. They hope, by 2009, to be able to expand onto traditional FM airwaves in the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area of Pennsylvania.

[edit] Online request system

At the opening of vM radio, they pioneered a brand new concept - online, automated requests. They continue to use this concept today. All of their over 1500 songs are requestable, by specific song, online on their website. A visitor can log on to the vM Radio website, click on online requests, and request any song. If for some reason this doesn't work, or you prefer a more traditional method, you can also now call in your requests on the radio's request line.

Other ways of contact, including for the purpose of requesting songs, can be done by facsimile at (801)-894-2322, AOL Instant Messenger at vM Radio ROCKS, and by the radio station's MySpace.

[edit] Shows & Specials

vM Radio has three self-produced radio shows aired every week.

The first is the Artist of the Week show, which is aired Sunday through Thursday at 9pm Eastern Standard Time. This show airs any and all music, interviews and special features of the current week's artist of the week. Users choose the artist of the week every week by accessing the vM Radio website and voting on who they think should be chosen this week.

The second show, aired every night at 10pm Eastern Standard Time, is the Top 10 at 10. This show simply showcases the top 10 requests of the day, as requested by radio listeners on the radio station website. The record for longest time spent at the top of the countdown is currently held by Eighteenth Hour, a band from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which held the number one spot on the countdown for seventeen consecutive days in September 2007. Another Bethlehem based band, Sandlot Heroes, was the previous record holder, with a seven-consecutive-day run.

The third is just simply a 2fer show, broadcasted from all day Tuesday. This is, of course, simply dubbed "2-fer Tuesday."

There are also many new shows in development at this time, including a morning show, lunch hour show, music industry countdown, new music hours, local music hours, and much more. vM hopes for all these new shows to be on air by the end of the year in 2007, in addition to the already-airing shows.

[edit] Future Goals

vM has many future goals for its radio station, and doesn't plan on stopping at just being an online-only music source. They plan on developing a "mobile only" website that is meant for use with cell phones, so that the station is accessible anywhere. Also, by 2009, they also plan, to the excitement of people in the Lehigh Valley, to become an over-the-air FM broadcast radio station[1]. They look, like any radio station, to keep expanding their music library, work on bigger sponsorships and partnerships with bigger companies, and more.

vM Radio is also currently working with many different companies and people to becoming one of the showcased radio stations on the iTunes music program, the most popular music-managing program on the Internet.
