Vlierzele

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vlierzele is a small village in East-Flanders, Belgium, part of the municipality of Sint-Lievens-Houtem. Vlierzele has a surface area of 669 ha.

Etymologically the name Vlierzele is derived from Fliteritsale (in 639) and Vliendersele (in 1412). This is a combination of the name of a plant called "vlier" or the person's name Flether and "sale" or "sele" which means a location where one stays in Old-Dutch.
