Vlasta Pavić

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vlasta Pavić is a former mayor of Zagreb and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP).

She was elected mayor of Zagreb on March 1, 2002[1] after Milan Bandić (also a member of the SDP) was forced to resign.[2] Bandić clearly had expected her to simply let him run Zagreb much as before. Though Bandić retained firm control of the Zagreb party machine Pavić attempted to be a mayor in her own right. This led to a somewhat stormy relationship with Bandić and she was very soon publicly accusing him of treating Zagreb as his personal property.[3]

Bandić worked to obtain early elections. He succeeded and Vlasta Pavić's mayoral term ended in May 2005 upon re-election of Bandić.[citation needed]
