Vlaho Getaldić

Biagio Ghetaldi also Vlaho Getaldić (Dubrovnik, 22 December 1788 - 27 October 1872) was a Croatian writer, translator and politician from Dubrovnik. He was grand-nephew of the renowned Marin Getaldić, and descendant of Gundulić through his mother's line.

Born in Ragusa (modern Dubrovnik), he was member (Consigliere di Governo. Zadar 3 Novembre 1843) and president of the Council "Reign of Dalmatia" based in the city of Zadar, which consisted of eight individuals.
Getaldić married with Ana de Bosdari (Božidarević). His cousin, podestà of Ragusa, Segismondo Ghetaldi-Gondola married with the sister of Ana de Bosdari (Božidarević).

The Austrian Empire gave him the title of Baron/Freiherr in 1846. In 1865 Vlaho (Biagio) translated Osman (by Ivan Gundulić) from Croatian into Latin hexameters. In the short introduction, Vlaho (Biagio) gave the rules of his translations.
Also, Vlaho (Biagio) wrote poetry in Latin language.
