Vladimir Mulyavin

Vladimir Mulyavin (Russian: Влади́мир Гео́ргиевич Муля́вин; Belarusian: Уладзімір Мулявін, Uladzimir Muliavin January 12, 1941, SverdlovskJanuary 26, 2003, Moscow) — People's Artist of USSR, musician, founder and art director of Belarusian folk rock group Pesniary.

Born in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg). Father — worker of Uralmash plant. Start playing guitar at the age of 12.

In 1956, after graduating school, entered Sverdlovsk Musical School, department of stringed instruments. Was expelled from the school for misconduct and an overt interest in jazz; nevertheless he was reinstated after some time he leaved the school by own initiative.

In 1959 got married with L. Karmalskaya.

In 19581963 worked as staff musician at different regional Philharmony.

In 1963 was offered to work for Belorussian State Philharmony.

In 19651967 conducted his compulsory two-year military service, near Minsk. Founded vocal quartet in company, took a part in Belorussian military district ensemble foundation.

After discharge from army returned to Belarusian State Philharmony, and created in 1968 pop-group "Liavony". In 1970 became its leader, the group was renamed to Pesniary.
