Vladimir Dyatchin is a Russian long distance swimmer and the current world champion at the 10km Open Water. His achievement was made even greater by the fact that he won the race despite suffering wide 10-inch long lacerations on both of sides of his rib cage, caused by a jellyfish sting. [1]
In 2007 he was voted as the World's Open Water Swimmer of the Year.
