[edit] Pictures for Vladimir Putin legislation and program

Hi, Vlad. Kremlin.ru puts a very generous copyright statement for their pictures that certainly agree with out {{attribution}}. Unless something specifically wrong with the picture, I do not see copyright problems there. In future if you see a possible copyright violation it maybe a right thing to discuss it with the uploader but if you still disagree then just report it rather then start an edit war. Copyright is important, we do not want WMF to be sued or labelled as a pirate site.

On the other hand Kremlin.ru got hundreds of Putin's photographs that we can use. The most straight choice would be some photo of Putin in Duma (or working on legislation in his office). The choice of a KGB-picture and Anti-putsch pictures is probably intended to symbolize pro-totalitarian and anti-totalitarian tendencies or something. It makes sense but a POV of a sense. Just as a note, I intend to contest the inclusion of kremlin.ru material on Commons; the site’s copyright statement is generous, but either too vague or outright insufficient to make their content free enough for inclusion, which would also require the permission to make derivative works and should not be limited to specific kinds of organisations or media. On enwiki, we could still use material where a fair use claim can be made (but not just to show what Putin looks like…). If either of you has better information on those images’ copyright status than what can be found in [1] or would like to get permission for specific images, I’d like to know. —xyzzyn 23:02, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Fyi, I’ve started a deletion discussion at commons:Commons:Deletion requests/Template:Kremlin.ru. If the template on Commons is deleted, I will also nominate {{Kremlin.ru}} for deletion. —xyzzyn 21:11, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thank you for informing me about the case with the article about internet trolls. ellol 11:11, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

This is hopefully not a case of canvasing, I hope. CPTGbr 18:15, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
LOL. See the talk page of ellol, where I have posted my message. But you are certainly trying to canvass your rigged votes by contacting Biophys, Ilgiz, Colchicum.Vlad fedorov 03:26, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] civility

The comment on the FSS page was not incivil, though the comment on the deletion page was mildly so. Please stop taking every comment to be a personal attack or incivility against you. SWATJester On Belay! 17:41, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
