[edit] Deceased?
An anon updated the page to say that Liberzon died in 1996. Do we have a refence to confirm this? (If the year of death is changed, it should also be updated at List of chess grandmasters.) Quale (talk) 03:39, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Since the anonymous death report is unconfirmed and some people thought him [alive in 2006, I've removed the year of death and put the article back in Category:Living people. Quale (talk) 11:01, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

- This article [1] by Bill Hartston in 'The Independent' - an English broadsheet newspaper is definitely a trustworthy source, and fairly conclusively confirms that Liberzon is deceased; Hartston knew him, so there's unlikely to be any mistake here. He gives the death as earlier in 1997, but it's easy to see how that could stretch into 1996. Brittle heaven (talk) 19:01, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks, that's good research and I'm convinced he's deceased. It would be nice to get an exact date of death (and maybe a place and cause as well), but we may have to go with what we have now. Should we go with 1996 or or the 4 August 1996? Although the Hebrew wikipedia page has no sources, it seems most likely to get it right so I'm going to go ahead and put it in. If you think just 1996 would be better or have a different way to handle this that's fine, go ahead and fix it as needed. Quale (talk) 07:05, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

- Niemzowitsch was kind enough to track down a reference and add it to the article which lays the issue to rest. Thanks to everyone who worked to get me to realize that the article was right all along before I jumped in. Quale (talk) 06:40, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
