It is the most fascinating sketch ever drawn. The incredible thing is that it's creator, Leonardo daVinci, intuited the prezece of phi in the construction of the human body over five centuries ago

[edit] Do not delete this image

Another image has recently been uploaded of this drawing, and in the discussion, it was proposed to delete this one.

As an Art Historian and the writer of a great part of the article Leonardo da Vinci as it stands at present, I would be upset to see this file deleted, for the following reasons:-

  • Although the other file is large and shows a lot of detail when at full resolution, this file presents more clearly at lower resolution and is well seen both small, within an article, and at lower res on its homepage.
  • The colour is not completely accurate in either. It is slightly too blue and too contrasted in this image, and much too orange in the other, as is typical of a pic taken without flash and not correctly colour adjusted by someone familiar with the original.
  • The black frame around the other photo looks quite effective in isolation, but is very distracting when the drawing is displayed among other artworks within an article.

At present, both images are in use. The newer image is in place within the box at Leonardo da Vinci - scientist and inventor
