Vista High School is one of six high schools in the city of Vista, California and is part of the Vista Unified School District. The mascot of the school is the Black Panther. The school has a strong tie to the NFL, producing NFL starting linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa of the St. Louis Rams, starting cornerback Leon Hall of the Cincinnati Bengals, as well as San Diego Chargers cheerleader and 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition model Marlina Moreno. Phil Sgrosso , Rythem Guitarist for the Metal band As I Lay Dying , Graduated here. As of 2004, the school's demographics were 44.4% European-American, 41.0% Latino-American, 5.3% African-American, 4.1% Asian-American/Pacific Islander-American, 3.2% Filipino-American, and 0.5% Native American. These statistics hide the fact that Samoan-Americans constitute the vast majority of the Asian-American/Pacific Islander-American population while East Asian-Americans have a very small presence on the campus. DC Shoes and Lifted Research Group (LRG) were both started at the school's printing and graphics room.
