VisitBritain

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

VisitBritain is the tourist board of the United Kingdom[1]. VisitBritain was created in April 2003 to market the UK to the rest of the world and to promote and develop its visitor economy. It was formed out of a merger between the British Tourist Authority and the English Tourism Council, and is a Non-Departmental Public Body responsible to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

In 2005 it was voted the world's leading Tourist and Convention Bureau in the World Travel Awards and its websites have been voted the world's leading tourism authority website for three years running, from 2003.[citation needed] The suite of websites has approximately 50 different sites for various countries and languages, all managed using the Tridion Content Management System.
