Viscount Wimbledon

Viscount Wimbledon was a title in the Peerage of England. It was created on 9 November 1625 for Sir Edward Cecil, a naval and army commander, who was made Baron Cecil of Putney at the same time. Cecil was the third son of Thomas Cecil, 1st Earl of Exeter and the nephew of Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury. The viscountcy and barony became extinct on the death of the 1st Viscount on 16 November 1638.
