Viscount Strangford

The peerage title Viscount Strangford was created in the Peerage of Ireland in 1628 for Sir Thomas Smythe. In 1825 the sixth viscount was created Baron Penshurst in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, enabling him to sit in the House of Lords. These titles became extinct in 1869 with the death of the eighth viscount.
