Viscount FitzWilliam

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The title Viscount FitzWilliam, of Merrion in the County of Dublin, was created in the Peerage of Ireland in 1629 for Thomas FitzWilliam, along with the title Baron FitzWilliam, of Thorncastle in the County of Dublin. The 2nd Viscount was created Earl of Tyrconnell in 1661; on his death the Earldom became extinct while the Viscountcy and Barony passed to William FitzWilliam. Both titles became extinct on the death of the 9th Viscount in 1833.

This title has no direct relationship with the Earldom of FitzWilliam.
