Visconde de Vilarinho de São Romão

Viscount Vilarinho de São Romão – title created by H.M. Queen Maria II, of Portugal, by decree dated 17th September 1835, in favour of António Lobo Barbosa Teixeira Ferreira Girão[Sabroscea, Vilarinho de São Romão, 5th November 1785 Lisboa 17th March 1863], Member of the House of Lords, without succession.

The 2nd Viscount was his nephew Alvaro Ferreira Teixeira Carneiro de Vasconcelos Girão, son of António Ferreira Carneiro de Vasconcelos and his wife D.Maria Aurélia Ferreia Girão, sister of the 1st Viscount. The 2nd Viscount was Lord of Avioso, Vilarinho de São Romão and Carregal [all in Portugal].

Th 3rd Viscount was the son of the later Luis António Ferreira Teixeira de Vasconcels Girão, civil engineer who had as his only daughter D.Maria Júlia de Ancede Ferreira Girão, married in Porto, on the 14th January 1905, to Luis Lenastre Carneiro de Vasconcelos, 4th Baron Lages.

The 4th Viscount, and 5th Baron Lages was Francisco José Carneiro de Vasconcelos Girão, B.A., Porto.

The 5th Viscount and 6th Baron Lages is Luis Manuel Ferreira Ferrão de Vasconcels, born in Porto on the 8th May 1951.

The Girão family is direct descendent from Manuel Girão, son of a Spanish noble, António Girão [or Giron], belonging to the House of the Dukes Osuna, who, in the early XVIth century lived in Montemor-o-Velho [Portugal] and is also the father of Amador Girão (his eldest son), married D.Maria Freire de Andrade from the House of Corujeira, Vouzela (Portugal) from whom follows the branch Girão of Beira Alta (Portugal) later Viscounts São Jorge.
