[edit] Identity:
Vistilia the mother of Corbulo etc. and Vistilia the prostitute are generally considered to be relatives, but not the same woman. According to one common interpretation, the famous mother is sister to Vistilius, the prostitute his daughter. See for example R. Syme, Tacitus [Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1958], vol. I, pp. 373-4 n. 2; M.-Th. Raepsaet Charlier, Prosopographie des femmes de l'ordre senatorial (Ier-IIe siècles), Académie Royale de Belgique, Classe des Lettres. Fonds René Draguet 4 (Lovanii: Aedibus Peeters), #814 and #815 (pp. 636-9) ; Tacitus, The Annals. Translated with Introduction and Notes by A.J. Woodman (Indianapolis and Cambridge: Hackett Publishing Company, 2004), p. 81 n. 147.
