[edit] Fair use in Visa (company)

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

1. It is a low resolution copy of advertising for an obsolete product of historical relevance.

2. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell their current products in any way.

3. Copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the product.

4. The image is historically significant because it demonstrates the major renaming of a now-common item which has changed significantly (in look and name) over time.

5. The image was donated by the PR department of the copyright owner specifically for use in articles that discuss the history of this product publicly.

This image created by the Visa International Service Association, who holds the copyright. It appeared in several publications in 1976 in promotion of the name change of BankAmericard to VISA. This scan was donated to the a Credit Card Collectors Club by Visa International Service Association's PR department.
