Viriatos
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Viriatos were Portuguese volunteers siding with the Nationalists during Spanish Civil War. They were named after the lusitanian leader Viriathus.
869 people had served, mostly as a part of the Spanish Legion (together with 38 already serving in the legion before the mutiny broke out). There were also 3 groups of Portuguese in the aviation.
Some sources state much higher number of volunteers, by order of magnitude.
