State Route 134 is a primary state highway in the Virginia Peninsula region of Hampton Roads, Virginia, United States. It runs from a junction with U.S. Route 60/State Route 143 near the downtown area of the independent city of Hampton to an intersection with U.S. Route 17 near Tabb in York County.
A short portion in Hampton is concurrent with Interstate 64. The northern 2/3 of the highway is a four-lane route. In Hampton, it is named Magruder Boulevard in honor of Confederate General John B. Magruder, who played a key role in the Peninsula Campaign during the American Civil War. In York County, it is known as the Hampton Highway.
Most recently, the bridge connecting Magruder Blvd to I-64 in Hampton was rebuilt and the interchange was redesigned in conjunction with the Coliseum Central widening project on the interstate. The interchange was closed for over two years. The bridge was demolished in 2002, and partially reopened in 2004 to traffic going from Magruder Blvd to Todd's Lane.
Recently, many new housing developments have sprung up along the highway in both York County and Hampton. This has led to an increase in traffic on a highway that was originally built as a connection between York County and Hampton. It is also not far from Langley Air Force Base, making it easy for people stationed there to get to work.
