Virginia Community Unit School District 64

Virginia Community Unit School District 64 is a unified school district located in the city of Virginia, the county seat of western Illinois's Cass County. It is composed of three schools and a prekindergarten center. Of those three schools, the elementary school is called Virginia Elementary School, and it serves grades kindergarten through fifth; Virginia Junior High School educates students in the grades six through eight. Lastly, Virginia Senior High School serves those in grades nine through twelve. [1] Lynn Carter is the superintendent of this district, and has been for twenty-nine years. [2] Christine Brinkley is the principal of all schools in the district, while John Alexander serves as the Dean of Students. [3] The mascot of the district's high school is the redbird.

Virginia Community Unit School District 64 sports a chapter of the National Honor Society and a Scholastic Bowl team, [4] as well as numerous athletic sports, like volleyball, basketball, and softball.
