Virgin Mountains

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Virgin Mountains are located in the southeastern part of the state of Nevada and northwestern Arizona. The range runs in a southwest-northeasterly direction, and covers an area of approximately 116 square miles. The range lies about 10 to 16 miles south of the town of Mesquite. Virgin Peak rises to 8,075 feet above sea level.

Most of the mountains are under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management (91.6%). The range has many species of lizards, as well as the Panamint rattlesnake and glossy snake. Trees found in the range include singleleaf pinyon pines, Arizona cypress, white and Douglas fir, and Utah and Rocky Mountain junipers.
