Talk:Virgil Franklin Partch
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Title should be changed to more familiar "Virgil Partch" -- which is what people searching would type in. Pepso 10:58, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Is the requested page move proper?
This article was listed under non-controversial moves at WP:RM. In preparing for the requested move, I performed a Google search for the two names and noted that "Virgil Franklin Partch" returns 1,320 hits [1], whereas "Virgil Partch" returns 593 [2]. Accordingly, I am declining to perform the move as non-controversial without discussion. If there is still a desire to move the page to the requested name, please relist at WP:RM.--Fuhghettaboutit 21:48, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- My vote: don't change it. "Virgil Partch" redirects here in any case, so I don't think there's any problem with the current heading. (People searching for him are probably as likely to type in "VIP" as anything else.) BTfromLA 22:09, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
I met Peter Partch, son of Virgil in 1973. He was my dive buddy in my SCUBA class and after as well. I visited their home a number of times, which was on the cliffs above Corona Del Mar Beach (part of Newport Beach). I know that Virgil spent a lot of time in Laguna Beach where the group of cartoonists (Interlandi Bros.) met at a restaurant, but i am not aware of him living in Laguna. I lost contact after about 1975 but the info here is definitely inaccurate about the period to which I am familiar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Flagman7 (talk • contribs) 22:23, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:VirgilPartch.gif
Image:VirgilPartch.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
