The title of this article is Viral hemorrhagic septicemia, but the description in the lead (and pretty much the whole article) is about the "rod-shaped virus". Should this article then be renamed Viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) or should it be corrected to describe the disease, with reference to the virus?? Ciar 06:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't know that any very constructive distinction could be made between the two; the article does cover symptoms and prevention, which arguably pertain the syndrome rather than the virus. -- Visviva 06:50, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

My opinion is that when there is not enough material for separate articles on the virus and the disease, the most commonly used name should be applied (viral hemorrhagic septicemia, in this case). Sometimes the virus name is more appropriate, such as in Feline calicivirus, as opposed to Feline calicivirus infection. Sometimes the virus causes a few different diseases, so it is simpler to just name the article with the virus name, such as in Bovine herpesvirus 1. It's better than having two separate short articles, such as Avian infectious bronchitis and Avian infectious bronchitis virus. --Joelmills 00:59, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback guys! I think I will just correct the article to read

"Viral hemorrhagic septicemia is a disease caused by..."

and keep a section to decribe the virus within this article. Leaves the option to separate it out later if preferred! Ciar 01:32, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
